June: Integrity is Golden

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

How was May? Did you get a chance to listen in? And if so, what did you do with what you hear? Did you dismiss it as unimportant? Is it asking you to do something that is inconvenient? Did you hear a truth that you would rather not, or be reminded that there is something essential and powerful inside of you? As we continue to cycle through the year we are now emerging quite earnestly, roses are blooming, baby birds are testing new wings and summer is so close, we can almost taste it. We are being bombarded by LIFE exploding out of every where!

As I was walking through the forest in Lynn valley last week, despite the incredible beauty of the huge trees, I felt feelings of fear and grief. The forests and animals are following their inner compasses and springing to life, spreading fluffy pollen and guarding nests, yet I know that the earth is in serious trouble, as I write, the air is hazy with early fires in Alberta, and the once blue skies of summer and being replaced with the eerie filtered red sunlight as it heats us through the layer of smoke. I’m angry and sad and scared. I want to pretend this isn’t happening and am tempted distract myself and numb out. Yet, if I go back to the previous months and what they have been preparing us to do, I remember that if my intention is to live heart centred I must risk opening over armouring.

Turning away from the hurt that arises when things are difficult or scary is not acting from the coeur (heart) or courage, and is side-stepping integrity (which happens to be one of the qualities of June.) Love requires us to keep our eyes open, to kneel down and get closer to the beauty and the pain, to not turn away this time, because there may be no next time. To confront our helplessness but also our power. To be so broken open and shattered by love we step into the fire with it, to stand on the side of life, no longer pretending that we cant understand its language.

It calls us to greater responds-ability, which basically means that its time to make choices that are in alignment with our values, because they are important, and risk changing in front of our community and loved ones, even if they do not like nor except it. I feel that June is calling to embrace our uniqueness, our golden frequency and that in doing so we bring our unique gifts to the collective table.

The golden ratio is a mathematical equation that is found throughout nature in spirals and plants, it has been used by the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Salvador Dali to bring beautiful proportions to their artistic works. I see it as a kind of original blueprint or cosmic signature that we were born with, something that we may spend the rest of our lives looking for, the truest expression of ourselves.

When we relax into who we truly are, embracing our natural gifts- connecting can feel pleasurable and nourishing. It is stressful to push back against our integrity, to ignore what is deeply meaning full to us, and it cuts us off from feeling joy. We need radical, enthusiastic, wild, counter intuitive connection to stay present in the issues we are facing as a collective.

It’s a rising up kind of month, one asking to keep our eyes and hearts open, to reach out and meet each other,  and act from integrity, from our golden frequency.

To balance this deep work, we also require deep nourishment. Self care is always important, but it may be especially so in June. Some suggestions are to eat nourishing food and drink water, spend time in nature, move your body, and stay connected to the people who support you.

We were made for these times,

With love,

Jacqui

My goodness, so many gems in here I tied here together. My commitment to June: I will keep opening instead of armouring as I remain in integrity with the golden sequence, no longer pretending not to understand its language. Simply beautiful. 🙏🏽

I love the sunflower and petals picture that prefaces your essay – where did it come from? And June is indeed a pattern-recognizing month, whether of spirals in sunflowers, golden ratios and galaxies, or of frightening new weather patterns. Gemini, the Twins, mirrors us, and the reflection causes cognition, and recognition, hallmarks of our species. Sometimes it seems each of us is made up of all the reflections our family, friends and acquaintances show us, and we, them, from infancy on up.

Thanks again Jacqui, for a thought-provoking article. Words, and the ideas fashioned from them, at their best reflect cosmic patterns we do well to align with.
