August: Horizons Unfold

What does it mean to live grounded upon the earth, to place our feet down and feel the ground light up under our weight? To be fully here, in the now and taste the world around us? To be so connected our inner compass that we trust the next step, and then the next, to wake up with the sun on our face and know that we are blessed?

July invited us to curl into ourselves, like the calm before the storm, like a sea anemone drawing in its waving arms. We moved through eclipse season and the astrological waters of Cancer and the clearings they offered. And for many, it feels like summer has truly just begun. I see us gathering the strength to move our hard earned wisdom into being, pressing our hands into the edges of our new found space and testing the new ground we are walking on.

The past few months have been stripping us down to who we most are and what we most value, to our innermost selves. August is inviting us to take these new revelations out into the world. Much like test driving a new car, we can explore what has been upgraded, what has fallen away and revel in what is strengthening in us. We can celebrate how far we have come.

Sometimes the best way to say thank you is to fully enjoy the gifts we have been given. Feelings of unworthiness and the rejection of the good that moves in our lives does nothing to protect us when we inevitably experience loss, it only keeps us in a chronic stress state. Life is always in flux, so when things are good, savour them like you would  a fresh peach and be nourished, drink in its sweetness and let it fill you, grateful for this season of abundance. It has nothing to do with deserving, but about acceptance and appreciation.

Goodness is a practice, and it wants us to not only believe in it, but to let it play it out in the real world. Life wants us willing to stumble around in it, to risk ourselves in its great game even if it means we skin our knees or get covered in grass stains. It wants us to try; try new things, and sensations. You could try connecting in relationship differently by simply and powerfully refining the language you use to towards yourself or others. You could say yes instead of no to the love and support around you, turn off your phone and towards the beauty of a sunset, the stars hanging brightly in the night sky or your lovers face.

August is here to remind us that we are as free as we allow ourselves to be.

We were created with the ability to experience uncontainable joy, to trust and expect goodness from ourselves and the world. It’s just as real a tangible as the pain and suffering which is also a natural part of our human experience, though I think we have a much more complex relationship with it. To expect goodness? How challenging is that! Yet, august is saying we are up to that challenge.

Reach high and wide, be generous to yourselves and others, and don’t be surprised when goodness begins to unfold your horizons.

Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid,

and doors will open

where you didn’t know they were going to be.

I accepted the gifts Nature so generously gave. I thanked the Sun., and my heart glowed. I saw the black of winter from the vantage of gold., and crayoned a picture of the tiger two. I lapped time like cream, watched hours of “The Clock”, and now bow down before my caregiving Virgin.

Virgin: Scat, cat! Hair all over the bed! But nothing a good cleaning won’t solve. xxxxO
